Christmas Round One

It has become a family tradition to do Christmas present opening whenever the heck we feel like it here at the Warner house. We realized that last Wednesday was the only day that Chad was off and we would be together before we began traveling, so that became our family Christmas. We woke up early and opened gifts.
We tried to cut way back this year. The kids each got three small (and practical) gifts and then one big one each.
Landry is opening her fleece winter one piece and Will is opening his tiger pajamas. When it came time for William's big gift, I really wished we already had it set up, but our inquisitive child finds everything and we figured it should stay in its' box and wrapped until gift time. You can tell that he was kinda unimpressed by his art desk. He just said thank you and then went to check out Landry's baby doll nursery set. We knew he would love it once it was set up, so we weren't too upset.Landry loved hers and immediately went and got dolls to play with.
Within minutes they were playing with the box while poor Chad built the desk.
After the desk was assembled, William fell in love. We have since created an "art center" (which is what he calls it) in his room. He loves it and will spend hours painting, drawing, coloring, stamping, etc. I'm too lazy to go take a pic and upload it, but it is a great little nook in his room by the window with a web of ribbon hanging above it so he can hang his work to dry and baskets to store everything.
After letting everyone play for a while, we went to breakfast at IHOP and then ran a few errands and came home for some more playing. After church that night, we drove around and drank hot chocolate while looking at lights.
It was nice to have our own little family time before hitting the road.
Merry Christmas Round One!
