Abilene (lots-O-pics)

Last weekend we made a trip up to Abilene to visit Chad's Dad's side of the family.
On Saturday we drove over to Glen Rose and went to Dinosaur Valley State Park.
They have dinosaur footprints (or so they tell us).
These are ones made from casts of the real footprints.

Don't we look like perfect tourists!
Here is the problem. It has been raining...ALOT...and rain makes rivers rise and rising rivers cover all really cool dinosaur footprints and make normally clear rivers murky.
So even though we knew we wouldn't see them, we hiked down to where they were. The footprints are there under that water, I labeled the picture just in case you were wondering. They are checking out a sign with a photo of footprints during better conditions.
Chad and his dad did eventually traverse the raging river and see several sets of footprints, but Karen and I were trapped on the other side of the river with babies, backpacks, and cameras. Landry passed the time by trying to munch on rocks.
William dug for fossils, dinosaur teeth, and claws. Landry eventually found a fossil and handed it to Karen (I know, child genius - who was handing all the rocks she found to Karen). Later William showed a park ranger the fossil and was forced to hand it over so that everyone who came to the park could enjoy it.Steve and Chad stood in the rapids let William float from one to the other.
The park ranger (who confiscated our fossil) had a jeep full of fossils and two footprint casts. She let William take a pic in one of them.
After stopping at Robertson's for Ham Sandwiches we finally made it back to Abilene just in time to get ready for a Ruff Riders arena football game. We had box seats on the floor and a few of the tackles slammed into our wall. It was exciting! William and Landry both loved it. There was so much noise and action that they both stayed completely entertained.
On Sunday we took William and Natalie fishing in a pond that ACU owns. It is full of baby catfish. You could cast and reel a fish in within ten seconds. Perfect for 2 and 3 year old attention spans.
Landry watched from under an umbrella (that she peaked out from for this pic).

We had a great time on our trip. We always have adventures with the Warners!

Looks like fun. I love the picture of William coming out of the river with his fossil- he looks like a man on a mission!

That picture of William coming out of the river...he looks like the "real" Jessica when she went to Switzerland and went down those rapids without a boat!
